In the year 1 980 the Higher School of Professional Education (ESEP) was created today Instituto Superior Tecnológico ´´ June 4, 1 821´´, directed by an excellent professional graduated from the Faculty of History and Geography of the National University of Cajamarca, Professor Hermógenes Mejía Solf.



Upon finding the abandoned Library and having information about the existence of the Museum, it was his first concern to meet with Ulises Gamonal to reinvigorate this work.



With the return of Ulises Gamonal, the support of the teacher Hermógenes Mejía Solf and Genaro Asencio Boñón, the dynamics of the Library and the role of Anthropological and Archaeological Research in the area, the collection of samples, registration, visits to places archaeological-tourism and anthropology.



In December 1980, the Chontalí Stela located on the right bank of the Chunchuca River was recorded and disclosed.



That same year the first essay on the abundant Rock Art in the area was published, a work that Ulises Gamonal and the ´´Jaime Vásquez Díaz´´ Circle had been silently carrying out, reports of the Rock Art in Lonya Grande, Yamón, Chontalí were published , Colasay, Faica, San José de Lourdes, with time the Rock Art of Santo Tomás, Pomahuaca, Pión, Chimbán, La Coipa would be integrated.



In 1 982 another great archaeological center and pride of the area was disclosed, the COLOSSAL MONOLITH OF PAMPAS DEL INCA and the ruins of the Mirador located in San José del Alto, this motivates the visit of the scientist Federico Kauffmman Doig and his team from the Center for Amazon Studies , which is integrated and supported by international scientists such as Giancarlo Limbague from Italy.



The Museum grew rapidly in its modern premises of the Instituto Superior Tecnológico ´´ June 4, 1 821´´ Montegrande sector, a special environment is adapted for the exhibition of archaeological and anthropological samples collected in more than 15 years. In 1 985 the National Institute of Culture Branch Jaén, through Directorial Resolution 001-85-INC-J, officially recognized the Regional Museum of the Higher Technological Institute ´´ June 4, 1 821´´ as the patrimony of Jaén and the Chinchipe Basins - Cashew.



With the continuous advice of the teacher Hermógenes Mejía Solf and the dissemination of the regional heritage, the research and collection of samples continues throughout the area: on May 25, 1991, after a painful illness, Professor Hermógenes Mejía Solf died at the age of 53 years old.
